The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), Türkiye's statistical authority, and the Inflation Research Group (ENAG), an independent group of economists keeping track of the country's inflation, announced their findings for August.
The official inflation rate stood at 1.46 percent in August and 80.21 on an annual basis, whereas the monthly inflation rate was 5.86 and the annual inflation rate was 181.37 percent according to the ENAG.

The inflation rate since the beginning of the year was 47.85 according to TurkStat and 91.62 percent according to the ENAG.
Communication was the sector with the lowest price increase compared to the same month last year (27.05 percent), and the highest price increase was in the transportation sector (116.87 percent), showed the TurkStat figures.
Since June, TurkStat has not been releasing the items in the inflation basket of goods and services. (HA/VK)
