The Central Bank today (February 23) lowered the one-week repo rate by 50 basis points to 8.5 percent.
"The Committee assessed that the current monetary policy stance after the measured reduction is adequate to support the necessary recovery in the aftermath of the earthquake by maintaining price stability and financial stability," the bank said in a statement, referring to the powerful February 6 earthquakes that struck 11 cities.
In January and December, the bank kept the rates constant.
