The number of deaths in the February 6 Maraş earthquakes has risen to 41,020, the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) has announced.
The agency has recorded 6,212 aftershocks following the magnitude 7.8 and 7.6 earthquakes.
Some 19,436 search and rescue workers from various organizations are still working in the 10 provinces that have been affected by the quakes, said the AFAD. The total number of personnel and volunteers working in the earthquake-hit zones is 245,198.
The earthquakes caused destruction in the provinces of Maraş, Antep, Urfa, Diyarbakır, Adana, Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay, Kilis, Malatya and Elazığ. Search and rescue operations have been concluded in eight provinces other than Maraş and Hatay.
Some 216,198 tents have been set up so far in those provinces, said the agency.
About 638,000 people have been provided with psychological support, including 470,000 people in the earthquake zone. (AÖ/VK)
