Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) have made a statement on the operation carried out in cooperation with Free Syrian Army (FSA) in Jarablus region of Syria.
21 targets were hit on the seventh day of the operation called “Euphrates Shield” and war planes of the US-led coalition against ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) shot ISIS positions, according to TSK which has not declared yet who were exactly the targets in the region which were hit.
TSK hasn’t named any targets
TSK has said that the “Euphrates Shield Operation” was based upon the rights of Turkey which originated from international law and the rights to self-defence provided by article 51 of the United Nations (UN) Charter and was being carried out within the scope of the decisions taken by the UN regarding the fight against ISIS.
TSK has added that the forces which were supporting the US-led coalition in operation were also taking every necessary measure in order to not harm the civilian people living in the region yet has not specifically named the targets in the region which were being hit.
Protest by Kobani
Fırat News Agency (ANF) has reported that the Turkish Armed Forces continued attacking the villages in the northern part of the Sacur river located in the North of Manbij. Five civilians three of whom were children, were killed in Dendeniyê village hit by artillery shooting, according to the report.
Reportedly, TSK attacked Rojava yesterday (August 29) and a member of People’s Protection Units (YPG) was injured in the attack. Kobani residents are demonstrating on Turkey border against the operation and demonstrators who have built tents in the areas close to the border are protesting against the operation (AS/DG)
