Turkish Airlines (THY) General Manager Temel Kotil, recalling allegations that the Germanwings co-pilot Andreas Lubitz crashed the plane going from Barcelona to Düsseldorf on purpose killing 150 people, noted that Lubitz had broken up with his girlfriend and said that they would urge their pilots to marry.
Attending the ceremony for 86 new pilots joining Turkish Airlines, Temel Kotil, addressed the pilots as follows:
“God forbid, the accident in France taught us something wholly new. That being a pilot is actually a very critical duty. That the lifestyles of pilots, whether male or female, are very important.
“This accident happened after the pilot who caused the accident broke up with his girlfriend. Therefore, folks, you should know that we are definitely encouraging the bachelors to get married.” (EKN/PU)
