The Directorate General of Meteorology has announced that temperatures hit record-high levels in 198 centers across Turkey in 2020.
As reported by the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), Turkey witnessed extreme temperatures in 198 places across the country last February, May, June, August, September, October and November.
Centers with highest temperatures
The highest number of extreme temperatures were reportedly measured in September 2020, with 93 centers across the country.
September was followed by May with 63 incidents of extreme temperature and by October 2020 with 33 incidents.
The highest temperatures were recorded in Yumurtalık (Adana), Dalaman (Muğla), Manavgat (Antalya) and Boyabat (Sinop).
The names of the centers, average temperatures, the recorded temperatures and the difference between the two were as follows in 2020:
In fact, it was only on the 2nd day of September 2020, when Directorate General of Meteorology announced that the highest September temperatures were recorded in 10 cities in Turkey.
In another statement in October 2020, the Directorate General of Meteorology made another announcement and said that the average September temperature in Turkey, which had long been measured as 20.5, increased by 3.4 degrees to 23.9 in the previous month.
While Turkey witnessed record-high temperatures in 93 centers in September, most of the extreme temperatures were recorded in the districts of Yumurtalık and Kozan in Adana, in the district of Boyabat in Sinop, in Osmaniye province and in the district of İslahiye in Antep province. (TP/SD)
