Turkey's unemployment rate dropped by 0.2 points to 9.4% in July, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) has announced.
The broad unemployment rate, termed as "labor underutilization rate" by TurkStat, saw a decrease of 1.5 points to 22.7%.
The unemployment rate for the youth population aged between 15 and 24 saw a decrease of 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous month, settling at 18%. Within this age group, the estimated unemployment rate was 15.2% for men and 23.1% for women.
The unemployment rate was 7.6% for men and 12.9% for women.
In July, the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and over decreased by 38 thousand compared to the previous month.
The total number of employed individuals saw an increase of 318 thousand in July compared to the previous month, reaching 31 million 671 thousand, with an employment rate of 48.4%, up by 0.5 percentage points. This rate was 65.7% for men and 31.5% for women.
For those employed during the reference period, the seasonally and calendar-adjusted average actual weekly working hours decreased by 0.2 hours compared to the previous month, reaching 44.5 hours in July. (VK)
