The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced the "Industrial Production Index" for June 2020 today (August 14).
According to the data shared by the Institute, Turkey's industrial production increased by 0.1 percent annually.
When the subsectors of the industry were examined, mining and quarrying index decreased by 8 percent, manufacturing increased by 1 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply decreased by 6.4 percent in June 2020, compared with the same month of the previous year.
17.6 percent monthly increase
The TurkStat data have shown that Turkey's industrial production in June increased by 17.6 percent when compared to May 2020.
When the subsectors of the industry were examined, mining and quarrying index increased by 7.8 percent, manufacturing increased by 19 percent and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply index increased by 6.7 percent in June 2020, when compared with previous month.
Comparison with the same quarter last year
According to the TurkStat data, Turkey's industrial production decreased by 16.9 percent compared with the same quarter of the previous year.
In the second quarter of 2020, calendar adjusted industrial production decreased by 16.9 percent compared with the same quarter of the previous year. The seasonally and calendar adjusted industrial production decreased by 20.2 percent compared with the previous quarter. (SD)
