The Women's Works Library and Information Center Foundation has announced that it has opened access to "Şükûfezar," a magazine whose publisher and all writers were women.
The first of the five issues of the magazine was published in 1886, or 1884, according to some sources, in Ottoman Turkish, the foundation noted.
"The most important feature that distinguishes Şükûfezâr from other magazines both prior and after its publication is that the role of women is not defined at home. Additionally, readers' letters played a very important role in shaping the magazine," it said.
"It is seen that most of the authors of those letters, like the authors of the magazine, were graduates of Daru'l Muallimat, the teacher's training school of the period."
