Minister of Finance and Treasury Nureddin Nebati talked about the country's economic problems during an iftar event of the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen Association (MÜSİAD) on Saturday (April 9).
"Inflation is slowly getting back on track, and we will see together how inflation decreases every month in this country, starting from December," Nebati remarked.
His statement came after a two-decade high inflation rate of 61.14 percent in March, according to official figures. An independent group calculated the inflation rate to be 143 percent in the last month.
Nebati had made similar promises about the inflation rate in December 2021.
The minister further said he was aware of the people's problems.
"We live in this country ... We don't live isolated from the world," he said, adding, "We know what this nation's youth, women, children, business world and employees want. We also demonstrate the determination to overcome these difficulties. We will continue to do so.
"The [Russia-Ukraine] war has come. The balances are broken. The world has started to experience a deja vu in finding wheat and steel and transporting goods.
"... This country will continue on its way. We are not turning a blind eye to the difficulties. There are difficulties, there are problems. We see the inflation rate."
