The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Turkey for March 2022 today (April 4).
According to the TurkStat, in March 2022, the CPI, or the consumer inflation rate, increased by 5.46 percent when compared to the previous month (February 2022), by 22.81 percent when compared to last December, by 61.14 percent when compared to last March and by 29.88 percent when compared to the twelve months moving averages.

Highest annual increase: Transportation
Transportation with 99.12 percent, food and non-alcoholic beverages with 70.33 percent and furnishings and household equipment with 69.26 percent were the main groups with high annual increases. The lowest annual increase was 15.08 percent in communication.
Education with 26.73 percent, clothing and footwear with 26.95 percent and health with 34.95 percent, were the other main groups where low annual increases were realized, according to the TurkStat.
Highest monthly increase: Transportation
In March 2022, the prices of clothing and footwear with 1.78 percent, housing with 1.84 percent and recreation and culture with 2.78 percent were the main groups that indicated the lowest monthly increase.
On the other hand, transportation with 13.29 percent, education with 6.55 percent, and hotels, cafes and restaurants with 6.04 percent were the main groups where high monthly increases were realized.
Prices of 313 items increased
In March 2022, within average prices of 409 items in the index, the average prices of 69 items decreased and the average prices of 27 items remained unchanged while the average prices of 313 items increased. (HA/SD)
