Turkey reports 975 new Covid cases, 4 deaths in a day

The Ministry of Health reported 975 new coronavirus cases and 4 deaths yesterday (May 31). The country's death toll stands at 98,959 with a total of 15.1 million cases.

Some 128,854 people were tested for the virus and 946 people recovered from the disease in 24 hours.

Over 85 percent of the country's adult population have received at least two doses of the coronavirus vaccine with 27.7 million people receiving at least three jabs, according to the ministry figures.

After a significant decrease in the number of daily new Covid-19 cases and deaths, the government on April 26 lifted the indoor mask mandate except for public transport vehicles and health institutions.

On Monday (May 30), the mask mandate in public transport was also lifted because the number of cases was below 1,000 for three days in a row, said the Ministry of Health. (VK)
