"The increase in the number of new patients is serious. The difference between two days is so significant for the first time recently," Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Twitter.
The increase in new cases came six days after the start of the Sacrifice Feast. The incubation period of the virus is stated as from six to 14 days.
"We must prevent the contact environment during the feast and holiday from causing serious consequences," Koca noted. " We are all responsible to each other. We need unity in measures."
With the latest update, the total number of cases in the country climbed to 234,934 while total recoveries reached 218,491.
The country's death toll from the disease rose to 5,765.
Health care professionals conducted 46,249 new tests, raising the tally to over 4.97 million.
The coronavirus pandemic has claimed more than 695,550 lives in 188 countries and regions since it originated in China last December. The US, Brazil, India, and Russia are currently the worst-hit countries in the world.
More than 18.3 million COVID-19 cases have been reported worldwide, with recoveries exceeding 10.9 million, according to figures compiled by the US-bases Johns Hopkins University.
