Evacuations continue from Sudan due to clashes between the military and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) since April 15. Today, a Turkish Airlines (THY) plane carrying 301 citizens of Turkey landed at İstanbul Airport.
According to the state-run Anadolu Agency (AA), the plane took off from Ethiopia's capital, Addis Ababa, and landed at Istanbul Airport at 09.30 a.m. local time (GMT+3) while the 301 evacuated people were welcomed with roses in the terminal.
Among those evacuated was Cem Harbelioğlu, who said they had gone through a difficult process. He said he had been in Sudan for twenty years and added, "Two armies fought against each other. We woke up one morning and saw that the war had suddenly begun." (NT/VK)
