Turkey's Foreign Ministry announced that the air space of Turkey has been closed to flights to use the Sulaymaniyah International Airport, which is located in the Kurdistan Regional Government region of Iraq as of April 3, 2023.
Tanju Bilgiç, the spokesperson for the Ministry stated that "the intensification of the activity of PKK" was the reason for the decision.
The decision, which is foreseen to be valid until July 3, 2023, will be reviewed according to the developments, the Ministry also announced.
Sulaymaniyah International Airport announced yesterday (April 4) that Turkish Airlines had canceled all flights to Sulaymaniyah scheduled to be realized in April. (NT/PE)
