Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) has launched artillery shooting by howitzers deployed in Kilis against areas around Menagh Airport nearby Azez district in Syria.
Menagh Airport has been seized by Democratic Union Party (PYD) a couple of days ago.
According to report of Radikal news website, artillery shootings carried out by howitzers deployed on the borderline on the area where Menagh Airport
is located that is 13 kilometers away from Turkey's border and seized by PYD from Free Syrian Army (FSA) forces a few days ago.
PYD spokesperson, Rami Abdul Rahman, has said Menagh Military Airport was among the targets, as AFP has reported.
Turkey has confirmed
An official from Turkey speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity has confirmed the attack:
"Turkish Armed Forces has hit fronts of PYD in Azez".
"There were no YPG forces in the area on where Turkey attacked"
Ebu Ömer, among the commanders of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), speaking to Sputnik has explained that Turkey hit them with howitzers and rockets at around 4:30:
"Turkey attacked from its border on our forces deployed in Tınıp and Mevki villages of Azez with howitzers and rockets. It hasn't attacked with aerial bombing. We don't have any casualties but material loss resulted by the attack. We haven't retaliated the attacks but we will if it continues. There were no YPG forces in the area on where Turkey attacked. We are now holding a meeting as to the attack. We will make a statement on the advancing hours to public regarding the attack". (EKN/TK)
