Trustees have been appointed to Mardin, Van, Siirt and Dersim Municipalites.
It was reported that Mardin Governor Mustafa Yaman was appointed to Mardin Metropolitan Municipality, Siirt Vice Governor Ceyhun Dilşad Taşkın to Siirt Municipality, Van Governor İbrahim Taşyapan to Van Metropolitan Municipality and Dersim Vice Governor Olgun Öner'in Dersim Municipality as trustees.
In total 34 trustees have been appointed to Democratic Regions Party (DBP) municipalities since September 11.
Arrest, detention, suspension against elected mayors
A lawsuit was filed against Mardin’s elected Co-Mayor Ahmet Türk on charges of “Disrupting unity and integrity of the state, providing money to an armed terrorist organization and being a member of it, malpractice, defaming Turkish nation, Republic of Turkey and the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey)”. Türk has been relieved of his post as mayor.
Siirt’s elected Co-Mayor Tuncer Bakırhan was detained during a house raid yesterday (November 16). Bakırhan was arrested today on charge of “[illegal] organization membership” and suspended from his duty.
Elected Van Metropolitan Mayor Bekir Kaya and four municipality workers were detained during an operation launched against today in the early hours. The searches are reportedly continuing in the municipality building. (ÇT/TK)
