US President Donald Trump has declared that the US has doubled tariffs on steel and aluminum the US imports from Turkey.
“I have just authorized a doubling of Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum with respect to Turkey as their currency, the Turkish Lira, slides rapidly downward against our very strong Dollar! Aluminum will now be 20% and Steel 50%. Our relations with Turkey are not good at this time!”
The exchange rate of US Dollar was 5.07 TRY same day last week; 4.78 TRY same day last month; 3.80 TRY same day six months ago; 3.53 TRY same day last year; and 1.93 TRY same day five years ago.
As for Euro, its exchange rate was 6.27 TRY same day last week; 5.61 TRY same day last month; 4.67 TRY same day six months ago; 4.14 TRY same day last year; and 2.56 TRY same day five years ago. (AS/TK)
