A truce plan for Syrian war prepared in joint efforts by the United States and Russia to last 10 days came into effect as of yesterday (September 12) at 7 p.m.
Noting that Russia will use drones to monitor the truce, Russia's General Staff Official Lieut. General Sergey Rudskoy said they expect all parties to abide by the truce.
According to a report by Sputnik News, Rudskoy went on as follows:
"Russian Air Forces will continue its airstrikes on terror positions in Syria. Russian and American sides will establish a common center for Russia and US-led coalition to determine the targets".
"We will not give up fighting ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) and Al-Nusra.
"Damascus has agreed to adhere to the agreement and Syrian army's operations will stop.
"Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army has to stop combatting Kurdish forces in Aleppo".
Assad is pleased
BBC Türkçe reported that the 10-day truce will be followed by coordinated attacks launched by the US and Russia on jihadists. Syrian state media announced that Syrian President Bashar al Assad welcomed the truce.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu expressed his wish for a "permanent truce" in his statement yesterday. (EKN/TK)
