M.F., a man whose full name we were not able to learn killed the trans woman Ece E. in Alsancak, İzmir.
Kaos GL reported that last night (January 4) at around 03:30 M.F. killed Ece stabbing her many times with a knife. He then escaped in a taxi.
Health and police teams were sent to the place after a notice was given by those in the neighborhood. M.F. was caught in Torbalı, after a notice was given to the police about the taxi he took and the direction he went.
He was detained and taken to the police station.
The dead body of Ece E. was brought to İzmir forensic medical institute morgue. The investigation into the murder is continuing.
Ece's mother and activists from the Young LGBTİ+ Association also went to the İzmir forensic medical institute morgue, and are trying to follow up and get information.

Turkey has ranked 48th out of 49 countries in the "Rainbow Index" of the European Region of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (ILGA).
The highest rank Turkey has achieved since 2009 was 41, surpassing countries like Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine, Macedonia, and Belarus.
