A sex worker trans woman has been stabbed to dead in Avcılar district of İstanbul in the middle of the street, murder suspect is yet to be caught.
According to news by Ozan Uğur and Alican Kalan from Pembe Hayat (Pink Life), woman named Alev was stabbed by a man approaching as a client in the street, and lost her life at the scene.
Alev’s friends going to the police station following the incident was questioned at Avcılar Police Station.
İstanbul LGBTI Solidarity Association in its post on social media account expressed that police said “How many faggots there are” during the waiting in the station.
As the investigation continues, murder suspect hasn’t been seized yet.
Attack will be protested in Ankara
Following the transphobic homicides taking place in the recent days, the LGBTI organizations in Ankara, Pink Life, High-School LGBTI and Kaos GL will issue a press release to protest hatred murders at 6:30 p.m. in front of Yüksel İnsan Hakları Anıtı (Monument of Human Rights).
Third attack in 10 days
33-year-old trans woman Nilay was attacked in her home in Maltepe district of İstanbul on November 23. The murdered had choked her to dead with bathrobe, and that her friends found her lifeless body when they got her home.
Police officer had told Kıvılcım Arat from İstanbul LGBTI Solidarity Association, “She’s already dead, her throat was sliced, why do you bother yourselves”.
A trans woman was attacked in İstanbul on November 20, Transgender Day of Remembrance.
According to bianet’s male violence monitoring report, 17 trans women were murdered in eight cities between the dates of July 1, 2011-October 20, 2015. (ÇT/TK)
