Rights defenders have marked trans woman Esra Ateş where she was murdered.
Ateş was killed at the entrance of the apartment where she lived in Beyoğlu, İstanbul on August 25.
Gathering in front of Ateş’s apartment upon call of Nakka LGBTI+ last night, her friends and rights defenders said, “We know Esra’s murderer”.
“We know that Esra’s murderer is same as murderer of Begüm who was tortured to death a few days ago in Bursa; those who massacred by burning Hande Kader; those who drove Eylül Cansın suicide; those who beheaded Muhammed Wisam Sankari! We know that trans murders emerge and are empowered by patriarchic, LGBTI+phobic, militarist system; we struggle against this system”.
