103 people have lost their lives in 164 traffic accidents during the 10-day eid in Turkey. 640 others were injured.
On the last day of the eid holiday, traffic accidents occurred in Adıyaman, Ağrı, Antep, Balıkesir, Bursa, Denizli, Giresun, Hatay, İzmir, Kastamonu, Kocaeli, Kütahya, Mardin, Manisa, Sakarya, Samsun, Sinop and Urfa. 14 people have lost their lives, 88 others were injured.
On September 3, all over Turkey, a "Traffic Safety Monitoring-6" was carried out in which 10,000 personnel participated.
As a part of the monitoring action, 4,361,647 TL (1,065,480 euro) fine was imposed on 15,738 vehicle drivers were due to missing documents or traffic infringement. 175,537 vehicles were controlled in 2,821 different spots all over the country, 77 wanted suspects were taken into custody.
In traffic controls carried out by police and gendarmerie traffic units, 2,710 vehicles were disqualified from traffic and 76 drivers had their driving licences seized.
5,921 people were fined for over speed, 3,024 drivers were fined for "expiration of vehicle inspection date" and 2,333 drivers for not wearing a seat belt. (EKN/DG)
