Climate activists have long been demanding urgent and effective action against the climate crisis. With this aim in mind, they will strike in İstanbul's Kadıköy on September 24 as part of the Global Climate Strike.
While Fridays for Future Turkey, Youth for Climate and Roots and Shoots have been making calls to the climate strike, it is also supported by several organizations. As part of their climate strike, the climate activists will meet at the vegan picnic in Kalamış Park at 12 - 2 pm.
After meeting at the Kadıöy Dock at 5 pm, climate activists will first make a statement for the press and hold a collective march to the Museum Gazhane. The strike will continue at 6 pm in the Museum Gazhane, where forums and concerts will be held within this context.
'If not us, who? If not now, when?'
Recalling that millions of people will participate in the strike globally, the following call has been made for the strike in İstanbul:
We will come together for the climate on September 24. We, as young people, demand our future and climate justice for everyone. We call on the local and central administrations to be a part of the struggle against the climate crisis in such a way that a life will be possible in the future and we call on them to take a step for this.
"As will be the case across the world on September 24 Friday, we believe in the power of being together on the Global Climate Strike, which will be held in our country by the young people in İstanbul.
"If not us, who? If not now, when?"
Banner workshop before the strike
The call has also reminded the public that before the climate strike, a banner workshop will be held at the Museum Gazhane on September 19 at 3.30 pm "to make the demands more colorful and meaningful."
Detailed information about the climate strike and the concert program will be shared on the organizations' social media accounts. (TP/SD)
