Three Italian and a French Journalist Deported

Four media representatives who came to Turkey after reporting over Syrian civil war for media organs which they worked for were deported for ‘crossing Turkish border illegally’.

Giuseppe Acconcia fromItaly’s İl Manifesto and Samuel Forey from France’s Le Figaro who were arrested for allegedly crossing Syrian-Turkish border on June 18 in Urfa province were deported on June 20. It is expressed that V.P. and R.C from Italian Channel RAI were deported likewise.

After the officials of Directorate General of Press and Information stated that accreditation of foreign journalists who crossed the border illegally would be cancelled, the journalists were deported.

Reported in border post and then deported

Editor-in-chief Philippe Gelie from Le Figarostated Samuel Forey had to cross the border illegally in order to monitor withdrawal of ISIS in Tell Abyad and taken to border post.

Giuseppe Acconcia from İl Manifesto informed The Reporters Without Borders Organization that he was detained and then deported.

Turkish journalists and media representatives who allegedly cross the border illegally are fined 3,000 Turkish Liras without judgment and defense. That fine makes media representatives worried about their security because they are marked.

Deportation from east and west

Made known as persona non grata by Ministry of the Interior, Syrian journalist Barzan İso who came to Turkey with his wife in the end of April was not allowed to enter the country from İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport.
