The children who were taken into custody in Hacıbekir Neighborhood in İpekyolu district of Van province on February 16 have been subjected to torture and mistreatment.
While doctor reports confirmed the torture, Van Bar Association has filed a complaint to the Prısecutor's Office.
The Bar has stated that its chair, board members, and the chairs of the Bar's Human Rights and Children's Rights Commissions met with the children O.D., Ş.Y., and Ö.S. at the police Child Branch Directorate.
The Bar has said the following in its statement:
"After the we are informed that the children who were in custody in Van Child Branch Directorate were subjected to torture and mistreatment, the Bar Chair and Board members and chairs and members of the Human Rights and Children's Rights Commissions went to Child Branch Directorate and had meetings with the children under custody. It was seen in the doctor reports that children O.D., Ş.Y., and Ö.S. were battered before they were sent to the Child Branch Directorate.
"Meetings were held with the children who say they were subjected to torture and mistreatment. It has been observed that the children were seriously injured, subjected to torture and mistreatment. A notification and a complaint was filed at the Van Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for an investigation to be opened imeediately.
"We declare to the public that our Bar will follow this case with all of its councils and commissions." (AÖ/VK)
