Justice and Development Party's (AKP) candidate for İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayorship Binali Yıldırım has maintained the claims of irregularity in the March 31 local elections that he has lost.
Following the fast-breaking programs that İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality's elected mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu has been participating in the voters' houses, Yıldırım has started a similar election work and was hosted in a house in Avcılar, İstanbul on May 18.
Answering a voter who asked why the election has been annulled, Binali Yıldırım told that "Because they've stolen" on May 15, 2019.
He clarified this claim after the fast-breaking in Avcılar and explained the "method of stealing votes" as following:
"The balloting committee chairs looked at the voters, and she/he did not give the voting paper to those who seemed like to vote for AKP. We know this from the complaints that were received on the election day."

Binalı Yıldırım has shared his answer to that citizen on his Twitter account:
"Our citizens have asked, and we have answered. We articulated the irregularities so that they no longer have any questions in their minds. We will insistently continue to tell everything wondered for the June 23 elections. Everything is for the fate of our beautiful İstanbul." (HK/TY)
