The planned project of a thermic power plant construction in Gerze, in the northern province of Sinop has been suspended.
“There is no such project of Anadolu Group in Gerze anymore,” said Şengül Şahin from Yeşil Gerze Çevre Platform.
“According to the information we received from local authorities (Çevresel Etki Değerlendirme İzin ve Denetim Müdürlüğü), the project file has been returned to Anadolu Group.”
“Previously, authorities demanded to revise some aspects on the forest. But the information was distorted. Now, they made it clear that no such action would no more take place.”
The platform released information on the suspension on its Facebook page. They also announced an upcoming celebration, scheduled for tonight in Yaykıl village.
