The launch of "Yaralı Yonca/Nefela Birîndar" (Wounded Clover), a book which has been written by journalist Faruk Balıkçı and the director-writer Ruhi Karadağ upon a two years-work regarding the peace process, and is about the life of guerillas, was obstructed in Nusaybin and Kızıltepe cities (Mardin province).
On April 23, a panel and an autograph session were going to be held with the participation of HDP Mardin MP Candidate Prof. Dr. Mithat Sancar, lawyer Mehmet Emin Aktar, the civil rights’ organizations in Nusaybin city, and the writers Ruhi Karadağ and Faruk Balıkçı in order to discuss the book and the peace process.
However, the billboard posters about the event were confiscated by the police upon the “Seizure” order of the Public Prosecutor of Nusaybin.
Police attended to the autograph session
Karadağ talked to bianet and mentioned that the obstruction is not limited to just posters, indeed the police, who attended to the autograph session, reviewed the book and asked for the removal of the several posters.
“They leafed through the book, and asked whether the photos were taken by us or given to us by someone else. “At first, they asked for the removal of our canvas poster with the claim of the "propaganda of an illegal organization", but then they watched the session from the distance after a police said, "I'm convinced, it may remain".
The launch is obstructed also in Kızıltepe
In addition, Karadağ also stated that they applied to the district governorate in order to open a stand on the square for the book launch in Kızıltepe (Mardin province), but they couldn’t get a positive result.
“Our application to open a stand for the book launch wasn't accepted due to the public security. Declared by the district governorate, the statement mentioned that the application can be considered on future dates.
Karadağ: The book considers the peace process positively
Karadağ added that these posters remained on billboards in Diyarbakır for two weeks and no problem occurred, but due to the forthcoming elections, the launch is obstructed arbitrarily.
“This book is an oral history study which introduces the guerillas in a peaceful manner. In fact, It’s a reference study" and added that they will continue to launch the book through the indoor meetings.
