Taybet İnan was shot by sharpshooters in Silopi district in Turkey's Kurdish-majority southeastern province of Şırnak 6 years ago yesterday (December 19). Her dead body was left on the street for 7 days.
Taybet İnan was commemorated in the 6th year of her death. As reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA), the commemoration was attended by Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Silopi District Organization, Free Women's Movement (TJA) activists, HDP Şırnak MP Nuran İmir, HDP Şırnak Provincial and District Organization and Peace Mothers.
While people came in front of Taybet İnan's house for the commemoration, they carried her picture during the ceremony.
Addressing the group during the commemoration, HDP's İmir raised concerns that the perpetrators who caused İnan's death are still on duty:
The state must identify these perpetrators. But, unfortunately, the ones who carried out this massacre and inflicted this pain on us are governing Turkey today. There is no such other massacre in the world. No matter what happens, we will not forget the atrocity inflicted through the body of Mother Taybet.
Halime İnan, the daughter of Taybet İnan, also said that she will never let her mother be forgotten: "My mother is revolt. She will never be forgotten. My mother is always with us and still among us. I will never forget that day. Justice must be served. We want freedom and peace. We cannot breathe anymore. My mother is the mother of Kurdistan."
Following the speeches, carnations were left in front of Taybet's İnan's picture in her memory. (RT/SD)
