Syrian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal Mekdad has spoken to Russian news agency Sputnik.
Describing Turkish Armed Forces’ presence in Syria as “hostility”, Mekdad said, “This can’t be justified by any excuse or explanation. We urge the government of Turkey to withdraw its forces from our lands and not to intervene in our internal affairs”.
Speaking also about US having bases in Syria, Mekdad said, “It is unacceptable for any country to have military base in our country without the approval of Syrian government. This is hostility and occupation. We will move departing from these analyses in our future steps”.
“Every betrayal has a price”
Concerning developments in northeastern Syria, Mekdad said:
“We are a single people who have shared a common life for thousands of years. However, the US invests in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). We think that the Kurds who serve US interest open doors to Turkish forces.
“They will not be able to divide Syria, that will be crystal clear soon. They (SDF) must align themselves with the Syrian army. Every betrayal has a price”. (PT/TK)
