After a verdict of release was given for him upon the objection of his attorneys, Syriac priest Aho (Sefer) Bileçen has been released from prison.
Aho (Sefer) Bileçen, the priest of Mor Yakup Church in Nusaybin, was detained in an operation in Mardin on January 9 and arrested on charge of "aiding and abetting a terrorist organization" on January 10.
As a verdict of release was given for him upon the objection of his attorneys to his arrest on the offense charged, Aho (Sefer) Bileçen was released from Mardin Type E Closed Prison yesterday evening (January 14).
As reported by Mezopotamya Agency, leaving the prison, Bileçen was welcomed by Syriac people of Mardin as well as by Gabriel Akkurt, one of the priests pf Deyrılzaferan Monastery.
Thanking the ones who were there to welcome him, Bileçen said that he would not make any statement. "I am tired", he only stated. (EKN/SD)
