Seventy-six percent of the young people in Turkey want to live in another country for a better future, according to a new survey by Yeditepe University and MAK company.
Among the people in the 18-29 age group, 64 percent of the people are ready to leave Turkey for the citizenship of another country and one in two people is not happy, the survey found.
When asked about whether they are happy, 27.5 percent of the participants said they are not happy and 23 percent said they are not happy at all. Only 18.2 percent said they are happy and 23.5 percent were neither happy nor unhappy.
The pollsters said the unhappiness of the people in the "best times of their lives" were "alarming."
When asked about what is needed for happiness, 26.2 percent said "money" and 16.6 percent said "career."
As for religion, 82.8 percent of the participants said they would define themselves as "someone who has a religion" whereas 72.7 percent said they believe in the afterlife.
77.9 percent of the participants said they don't think any of the political parties of the country can solve the country's problems.
When asked, "If you ruled this country, what would be the problems that you would solve the first?" 46.7 percent of the participants replied, "unemployment-employment," 8.8 percent said "high living costs," and 7.6 percent said, "justice."
76.2 percent of the participants said they would temporarily go abroad for education or business while 64.6 percent said they would leave Turkey if they were granted citizenship by another country. (AÖ/VK)
