During a parliamentary session aiming to discuss the vote rights of women in shelters, CHP deputy Aylin Nazlıaka reacted against an AKP deputy who told her "You took your lesson and you are still speaking! These are futile things."
Nazlıaka said the following: “The devil is telling me to take my shoe out and throw at you. But then I look at you and my shoe. It is really not worth doing".
While the law proposal was declined, Nazlıaka’s words went viral in the social media. Female social media users are now sharing the photos of their shoes and slippers to support the reaction of deputy Nazlıaka.
"Futile things" reaction
The incident took place after Nazlıaka submitted a law proposal to allow women in shelters to vote with a amendment in the law regarding electorate logs.
Upon Nazlıaka's reaction, AKP deputy Belma Satır said the following: “I condemn a female deputy's statement to take off her shoes and throw at another deputy. This statement contains violence. I am inviting her to be respect and decent manner. Such a reaction has never been given by any other deputy.
Nazlıaka’s law proposal, on the other hand, has been rejected.
