Support for Academics from 1,500 Health Workers

Health Workers for Peace Initiative has supported the academics signing for peace declaration and faced investigations.

Over 1,500 health workers have demanded academics voicing request for peace to remain untouched, peace in the country to be established, and life and keeping people alive to be made of top priority.

"We have conscientious responsibility"

“From Health Workers Advocating Life to Academics Demanding Peace, We don’t Promise Support only but Promise to Struggle Hand to Hand!

“We have a debt hard to pay back and conscientious responsibility that will pursue us lifelong to people of this country who provided us opportunity with a heavy heart for education, and academics educating us to become doctor, dentist, pharmacist, psychologist, nurse, midwife, health staff, technician, laborant.

On the other hand, we don’t have any debt or responsibility to those who are bothered with the 1,128 academics that have raised their voice for peace to blossom and express their ideas via the most democratic mean, petition, who threaten them with death, instruct YÖK (Council of Higher Education), universities, prosecutors and judges to aggrieve them, but we have a couple of words to say to them:

We don’t want to keep death reports

“We will continue to work night and day to be with our people any time they need from birth to death, cancer to toothache, and we as health workers who know being healthy is possible within a peaceful environment that prioritizes life and keeping people alive try to let everyone have equal and necessary medical service regardless of nation, language, religion, occupational and social status. We don’t want to live in a country in which we face death by being choked by pepper gas, in ambulances or health institutions turned into headquarters, and don’t want keep death reports of people whom we are obliged to keep alive.

We demand the representatives of academy who are associated with reason, science, and free thought in the country voicing request for peace to remain untouched, peace in the country to be established, and life and keeping people alive to be made of top priority, and that announce that we will continue to side with anyone striving for these demands”.
