Summary of proceedings has been prepared by Ankara Chief Public Prosecution on People’s Repbulican Party (CHP) Chairperson Kılıçdaroğlu for insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
In the summary of proceedings, it has been alleged that CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu “insulted the president” in his speech in his party’s 35th Ordinary Session and in Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Group Meeting on January 19 in addition to his posts on Twitter.
“Tinpot dictator”
Kılıçdaroğlu had said the following about Erdoğan in his speech in his party’s 35th Ordinary Session held on January 16:
“Academics expressing their opinion have been detained one by one. They are being taken into custody with one word of a tinpot dictator. You may not agree with the content. We also have some issues with the content. Why do you impose ban on opinion?”
“Can’t be even a dictator”
Kılıçdaroğlu expressed the following in his speech in TBMM Group Meeting:
“He gets angry at me for calling him tinpot dictator, because he can’t be even a dictator. He sued me. I will not do anything. I will just send the tape of his oath in the TBMM. He swore on impartiality. He will account for it. (EKN/TK)
