Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has prepared a summary of proceedings for Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Ziya Pir on charge of “Organizing, managing and attending illegal demonstration and rally” for sitting on the stairs “without disturbing public order or chanting slogan”.
The summary of proceedings was sent to the Minister of Justice for Pir’s parliamentary immunity to be lifted.

The summary of proceedings briefly read:
“On October 13, 2016, precautions were taken by the security forces in front of the DBP (Democratic Regions Party) provincial building. A group of as many as 100 people coming to the provincial building started to sit on the stair. Upon that, HDP Diyarbakır MP Feleknas Uca was reminded of the Diyarbakır Governorship’s proscriptive decision.
“During the ongoing process, the aforementioned group continued to sit on the stairs without disrupting public order, chanting any slogan or opening any written material. The group didn’t disperse despite all the warnings and the security forces intervened in the group”. (PT/TK)
