Police authorities announced the identity of a female suicide bomber who blew herself outside a tourism police station in Istanbul’s most tourist-filled district.
The suspected woman’s name was disclosed as Riana Ramazova - with Russian origin.
The incident was initially claimed by DHKP-C organization, orchestrated by Elif Sultan Kalsen - an allegation promptly denied by Kalsen Family.
Police and family: Not Kalsen
Kalsen Family advocate Ebru Timtik released a statement after the body identification held by vacation court prosecutor, saying the following: “We got inside the [morgue]. Her mother and father were present as well. They showed us a woman with light skin and 160cm of height. However, it wasn’t Elif Kalsen. The family was unable to identify their daughter. They said they have never seen this woman before.”
Following that, police authorities made a statement, denying that the dead body of suspect wasn’t Elif Sultan Kalsen.
It also turned out that the slain policeman Kenan Kumaş (29) was formerly a teacher whose assignment was not made by Education Ministry. His wife also gave birth to their first child two months ago. (NV/BM)
