The one-year-old stork, named "Holm" who was marked by researchers in Denmark, was viewed in Karacabey, Bursa in a feeding break on its migration route.
Alper Tüydeş, a photographer of nature and wildlife, started following up after Holm was detected as within the borders of Turkey over the mobile application.
After three days of watching he photographed Holm among coveys feeding themselves with the insects and worms that emerged on the land after the rain.
Tüydeş, talked to the Anadolu Agency. He said that Holm was born in Denmark and was set free after placing a transmitter.
Significant for researchers
Tüydeş told Anadolu Agency that the number of storks in Danmark is small compared to other north European countries and that makes Holm very important for researchers.
He explained that they are expecting Holm to spend the summer in Turkey or Greece and to return to Denmark a few years later.
He further said, "Holm will travel shorter migration routes in this period and will become more experienced for survival. The researchers back were very happy when I contacted them. Holm probable wanted to feed, stopping by Karacabey due to the rain." (TY/PE)
