Stories of Those Who Lost Their Lives in Train Accident

24 passengers lost their lives, 338 others have been injured as a result of train derailing en route on Edirne-İstanbul. The youngest one was 10-month old.

Stories of those who lost their lives according to the information on social media and the press are as follows:

Ersen Gül

Gül was living in Edirne and had two children.

Serhat Şahin

Şahin was 2nd Grade student at Küçükçekmece Prof.Dr. Sabahattin Zaim Anatolian High School in İstanbul.

Melek Tuna

Melek Tuna was on the train with her husband Ekrem Tuna. They were living in Çerkezköy. They were returning to their home from a daytrip. Her husband survived injured.

"Some clatters were heard as the train was going. My wife said, 'Ekrem what's happening, we're dying'. Then the coach tumbled down over 4-5 times. My wife got trapped under the coach, died of internal bleeding. My family died, they've become angels and left. I am left alone, I wish I died too".

Ayşe Başaran

She was travelling with her grandchild Mavi Nur Tiflizden.

Ergün Kerpiç

Kerpiç was 40 years old. He was living in Mescit Neighborhood in Uzunköprü. He was on the traing to go to his work at the factory in Çerkezköy.

Hakan Sel and Oğuz Arda Sel

Hakan Sel and his 9-year-old son Oğuz Arda Sel were returning from family visit in Tekirdağ to İstanbul.

Özge Nur Dikmen

She was a graduate from Department of Mathematics Teaching at Marmara University. She was on the traing with her sister Gülce Dikmen and cousin Sena Köse. They were going to Çerkezköy.

She was on the train with her sister Özge Nur Dikmen and cousin Sena Köse. They were going to Çerkezköy.

Sena Köse

She was on the train with her cousins Özge Nur and Gülce Dikmen. They were going to Çerkezköy.

İrfan Kurt

Kurt was 63 years old.

Bahar Koçman

She was on the train with her relative Yağmur Laçin.

Özcan Cesur

Cesur was working as shipping officer in a textile company. He was married and living in Çorlu.

Derya Güvenç Kurtuluş

Kurtuluş, her 10-month-old baby Beren Kurtuluş and sister Emel Güvenç Duman lost their lives. Her 6-year-old son is injured.

Duman was sister of Derya Güvenç Kurtuluş.

Bihter Bilgin

Bilgin (14) was a high school student. Her aunts Derya Güvenç Kurtuluş and Emel Güvenç Duman were returning from a family visit.

Ömer Alperen Can

Can was 5 years old.

Seyfi Erbil

Erbil was a security guard at Turkish State Railways 1st Region Directorate.

Zübeyde Seven

Seven was 55 years old.

Gani Kartal

Kartal was a janitor at Sultan Murat Central Mosque in Küçükçekmece, İstanbul. He lost his life with his wife Rubize Kartal.
