President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Chair Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has authorized the State Supervisory Council (DDK) to inspect public benefit associations, foundations, cooperatives and all partnerships and affiliates of them.
The inspectors and group chairs of the DDK will have the authority and responsibility of these organizations' units that are formed to carry out inspections, according to the presidential decree.
In late 2020, parliament passed a law authorizing the Ministry of Interior to replace executives of foundations and associations who are prosecuted on charges related to "terrorism."
