Vice Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş has announced that the State of Emergency would continue, drafts of new statutory would soon be completed and that investigations were launched into 347 social media accounts.
The cabinet meeting led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan yesterday (January 2) continued for seven hours and ended at 10 p.m.
Vice Prime Minister has talked to the journalists during the break of the cabinet meeting.
Referring to the gun attack in Reina nightclub in Ortaköy during new year celebrations, Kurtulmuş commented that the attack was a response to Turkey's cross border operations and that Turkey's achievements and determination especially in the Operation Euphrates Shield disturbed terrorist organizations.
State of emergency will continue
"In times, in which Turkey faces so much terrorist attacks and the difficulties in hindering FETÖ's (Fethullahist Terrorist Organization) attempts to infiltrate into the state taken into account, the State of Emergency will continue as long as it is necessary.
"Our preparations in completing the new statutory decree continue, the most of it is completed, we are making the finishing touches. We will share it with the public as soon as possible".
Investigation into 347 social media accounts
"We are monitoring all social media accounts, and will continue to do so. Investigation has been launched into 347 social media accounts as these were considered to poison people against each other in the nation. Action has been taken against 92 people". (NV/DG)
