Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has come together with newspapers’ editors-in-chief and responded to questions concerning the agenda.
Yıldırım issued the following statement about the State of Emergency (OHAL) Commission:
“[The commission] begins its duty on July 17. It paves the way for legal steps, it is closed now.
“There are seven judges [in the commission]. There will be around 200 experts under their order and they will evaluate the files one-by-one.
“For instance, if they decide for a person to be reinstated, it will be implemented within 15 days. If the previous verdict is approved, then that person will have the right to appeal to higher courts.
“This jurisdictive path can lead up to the Constitutional court and the European Court of Human Rights”.
The commission was formed on January 23, 2017. (AS/TK)
