The Transparency International (TI) has prepared a report concerning how much state channel TRT has spared time to presidential candidates during the election campaign period ahead of June 24 presidential and general elections.
Examining the time allocated TRT’s news channel to presidential candidates and political parties dated from May 4 to May 31, the association wrote down the following note on the introduction of the report:
“TRT shouldn’t work with any power group”
“Obliged with carrying out public broadcasting, TRT has to embrace all political parties with an egalitarian understanding. The responsibility of TRT, which is financed by all citizens’ taxes, is not to work for a power or interest group but to reflect the political spectrum with all diversity”.
According to the report, the time spared on TRT to the candidates from May 4 to May 31 is as follows:
People’s Alliance candidate Recep Tayyip Erdoğan: 105 minutes / 65 percent
CHP’s candidate Muharrem İnce: 37 minutes / 22 percent
