Access block imposed on sputniknews.com has been lifted. In the Turkish edition of the news site, the report was based on the state-run Anadolu Agency. “No information has been given as to lift of access block as no information was given when the block was imposed”, said the report.
The block was imposed by the Telecommunication Communication Presidency (TİB) on April 15. The Sputnik’s Editor-in-Chief Simonyan had said following the decision that it was no more possible to speak of freedom of the press in Turkey.
Afterwards, Sputnik Turkey’s General Director Kerimov’s entrance to Turkey was denied on July 20 and that his press card was seized.
The access block now was lifted the day before the first meeting to be held between Russian Leader Vladimir Putin and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan following the crisis of Turkey shooting down the Russian jet.
Erdoğan in his speech in August had explained that the Fethullah Gülen Community has infiltrated into the TİB and they will shut it down. (HK/TK)
