The protest will take place in front of Turkey's embassy in London at 11 a.m. on May 7.
"The criminalization of the Gezi resistance is unacceptable. The right to protest and provide democratic opposition must be defended.
All those imprisoned in connection with Gezi, those imprisoned for exercising their right to free speech and for defending democracy must be freed immediately" said SPOT on its website and called for people to join the protest on May 7.
Many unions, mass organizations, political parties and campaign groups have declared their support to the campaign launched by SPOT. The protesters will also demand that the Johnson government review its relations with Erdoğan.
SPOT is an umbrella group made up of progressive organizations, campaign groups and trade unions in the UK and aims to support those struggling for democracy and fundamental freedoms in Turkey. (EMK/AÖ/TB/VK)
