Specialist sergeant remanded in custody for 'sexual assault' after outrage on social media

An arrest warrant was given today (August 19) against specialist sergeant Musa O. who raped İ.E. (18) in the southeastern Batman province.
İ.E. committed suicide after being raped and lost her life yesterday in the hospital where she was treated.
The officer turned himself in and was remanded in custody later in the day.

Following her death, a Twitter hashtag demanding the officer's arrest became a trending topic in Turkey with more than 260,000 tweets.
He was released from detention after denying the seuxal assault allegations although a report by the Forensic Medicine Institution stated that İ.E. was raped.
Ağrı 1st Heavy Penal Court ordered his arrest today for "qualified sexual assault."
İ.E.'s funeral was held today. The police did not allow anyone other than her family to the funeral. (EMK/VK)
