A Special Action Branch Office is being formed under the Presidency Directorate of Guard Chamber.
The decision taken by Council of Ministers headed by President and Justice and Development Party (AKP) Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on April 9, 2018, was published on the Official Gazette today (May 23).

The reason for forming Special Action Branch Office in 1982 is explained on the website of Security General Directorate as follows:
“Units that undergo special training, are equipped with modern weapon, ammunition, instruments and tools to prevent armed actions of terrorist organizations in residential districts and rural areas; neutralize or capture the perpetrators of the actions carried out; save people kept hostage in closed places such as plane, vehicle, ship, metro, train, building; ensure safety of state officials who are at risk…”
According to the information on the website, there are Special Action Branch Offices in 56 provinces. (BK/TK)
