Akyol: If one journalist came to visit per day
Keeping watch during the day yesterday, Akyol stated:
“I have named it ‘hope watch’. If only a colleague takes over the shift for one day, this could be a chain. I have created a link of this chain today. Tomorrow if another colleague takes over the shift, a new link is added to the chain. Many comrades and colleagues who called me have manifested that they want to come here and join the watch. I have asked them to come tomorrow and also in the following days.”
Satmış: If authorities are afraid of journalists...
Taking over the shift today, Satmış stated:
“We have initiated this solidarity watch to announce the injustice and wrongfulness to which Can Dündar and Erdem Gül were subject to just because they have fulfilled their journalism duties and therefore are imprisoned. If authorities are afraid of journalists in this country, this indicates that there are issues desired to be kept secret. In transparent states of the world, media acts as it wishes whereas in undeveloped and intransparent states, media is under pressure.” (ÇT/DG)
