Six young members of the İzmir Youth Council of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) were apprehended last night in the Menemen district, according to reports.
In an incident, the police intercepted a vehicle and took Uğur Yıldız, Mustafa Yalçın, Emre Yalçın, and Harun Yakaç into custody, as reported by Mezopotamya Agency (MA).
During a separate operation conducted at a business establishment in Menemen, Abdurrahim Kaymaz and Özkan Çakal were also arrested.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the raid resulted in shattered windows at the premises.
The exact reasons behind the detentions of these young individuals have not been disclosed, but they were transported to the Izmir Provincial Police Department in Çankaya.
Over the past few weeks, a series of operations has been carried out targeting not only political parties but also legal and media organizations with a Kurdish focus. These operations, which coincided with the mid-May elections, led to the apprehension of numerous individuals. (NT/VK)
